Monthly Livestream #4!
Here's the recording of yesterday's livestream - was a blast and thanks to everyone for tuning in!
I started off by playing a Fred Hersch tune called "A Lark", then John Coltrane's "Central Park West". Then had some great questions and covered the topics of how to use voice leading to create movement when there aren't many chord changes, how to apply the Clare Fischer exercise from an earlier video, the issue of hearing inner voices in our playing, what makes a good melody (spoiler it's not the notes but how you play them), and and how to incorporate "foundation" rhythms into your playing, and the danger of not making these decisions before you start playing. It was a lot!
