Monthly Livestream #8!
Here's the repost of today's livestream! I started off with two Duke Pearson tunes, "You Know I Care" and "Gaslight" - but unfortunately I forgot to press record so those were lost!
But then I went right into questions, and had some great ones this month. Here's what we talked about:
- About fingerings - which led me to a quote from this book that I'd highly recommend (Piano Notes, by Charles Rosen).
-about practicing
-about odd time signatures - and I mention this amazing class from Ari Hoenig that I highly recommend to any one at any level! Ari Hoenig - Rhythm Training from mymusicmasterclass.com
-playing fast
-about the necessity of playing differently every time - which led me to some great quotes from this book "The Great Jazz Pianists" by Len Lyons. This book has come before in other livestreams and lessons - highly recommended!
-about writing down ideas and practicing them
And, inspired by my afternoon tea, a version of "Tea for Two" to wrap things up.
Thanks to everyone for tuning in, and see you all next month!
