Monthly Livestream #12!

Here's the repost from yesterday's livestream! Had some technical difficulties in the first 10 minutes - thanks to everyone for your patience!

I started off with a few standards - "People Will Say We're In Love" and "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face". Then had some great questions: first was about transcriptions - whether or not it's a good thing, and how to incorporate them into your playing. This was a good excuse for me to take out my large folders of transcriptions, and I took an old Brad Mehldau transcription and demonstrated one way to incorporate it's elements into our playing. 

Then had questions about the left hand, "approach notes", iPhone metronomes of choice, about counterpoint/polyphony (I even juggled to demostrate some ideas about polyphony here!), and the piano as a drumset. (ways that the piano is like a drumset and isn't like a drumset!)
