Monthly Livestream #19!

Thanks to everyone for tuning in to yesterday's livestream! Here's the recording. (For those of you that were there, apologies again for the mirrored overhead camera! I was able to flip it so in this recording the orientation is correct.)

I had sort of a theme in mind for the two tunes I played, which was "tunes in odd meters". I started with a Paul Desmond tune called "Eleven Four", which is in 11/4 of course. Then played Brad Mehldau's "Spiral", which is a work in progress!

Then moved into some great questions - had a question about some of the arrangements from my album "My Ideal", which is mostly standards. Last stream we talked about the "Nobody Else But Me" arrangement, and this stream we talked about "My Ideal", and "Waltz for MD". Also had a question about my practice routine, and a question about how to manage time between composing and practicing piano. Also had a question about "harmonic complexity", which became a discussion of how to use simple harmonic devices well, and it so happened that Brad's "Spiral" was a perfect springboard for that.

Thanks again everyone, and see you next month!

PS - apologies again - about halfway through the stream the overhead camera froze! Sorry again for the technical difficulties in this stream and I'll be sure they're settled next month!
