Monthly Livestream #30!

Thanks for tuning in to yesterday's livestream! Here's the recording.

I started off with a few tunes - first "Fujiyama" by Dave Brubeck, which was on my mind because I played it the night before in a duo concert with my brother. Then a Joe Henderson blues called "Tetragon" (which I think of as "Isotope 2").

Then had some great questions. First was about Cecile McLorin Salvant, who I'll be playing with next month in Europe, and the question was "What is it that I admire about her?". So that was an easy question! But fun to elaborate on and share some stories.

Then had a question about learning standards, and how I go about learning a new tune. (Spoiler: I like original sheet music. And also I have some pretty good evidence that I think Brad Mehldau is reading the sheet music for "Look For The Silver Lining" during his April 2020 solo recording.) Then I decided to play a quick version of Look For The Silver Lining.

And wrapped up with a question about some of my favorite solo piano albums specifically for left hand playing - a great question! And I had some famous, as well as some less famous examples.

Enjoy, and look forward to seeing you all again next month!
