Monthly Livestream #32!
Thanks for tuning in to yesterday's livestream! Here's the recording.
I started off with a few tunes: "It's a Raggy Waltz" by Dave Brubeck, and then "A Child Is Born" by Thad Jones.
Then into some great questions! First was about classical repertoire that I find transitions well into jazz music. For me, some composers translate more directly (Chopin), and others more indirectly (Bach), and I gave some examples. Then had a question about how to start and end a solo - a very interesting question! I have a few tips that I like to use in my own playing that I was happy to share. Then into a question about ways to practice when you can't get to a piano - a dilemma that all pianists face at some point in their careers. And then a question about ways to use different registers in the LH, and finished off with a question about the differences between solo and trio playing. I left this livestream with a lot of food for thought, and I hope you will too!
Thanks again everybody, and see you next month,
Glenn
